Quirky Everyday Life

Quirky Everyday Life offers activities and wonders for all ages. You can unleach your inner interiror designer or simply relax in the quirky living room.

In the Art Space Ilmiö you can explore a living room gone all wacky, where even everyday objects have been given a whole new purpose. You can play with a home built into a suitcase, slip into a sock to sleep or dress up as a piece of art. The living room is also home to Sämppy, Mummy and Lillan, who have been brought to life from exhibitions and act as children's guides to the world of contemporary art. You can also create your own whimsical artwork from recycled materials, which you can leave in the space for others to admire or work on. You can immortalise your artwork or yourself as part of the artwork by taking a photo and sharing it on social media using the #VinksahtanutArki. You can also admire other visitors' wacky everyday life quirks. The Quirky Everyday Life is a collaboration between students of Art Education and Art History at the University of Jyväskylä. The participants are Mari Erho, Jasmiina Eskelinen, Irja Haapakoski, Salla Heiskanen, Maria Karhunen, Anna Khirug, Anneli Kirpu, Lotta Puurula, Miamari Tuominen, Oona Vessman and the supervisors are Minttu Koponen, Tarja Pääjoki and Teija Luukkanen-Hirvikoski from the University of Jyväskylä. From the Jyväskylä Art Museum, Anneli Tuulaniemi and Milka Vilkman were interns, with Teija Lammi and Sirpa Turpeinen as supervisors. Also involved in the project are art student Mari Laukkanen from Gradia and the theatre group Teatterikone. Translated with DeepL.com (free version)
