Sauna Region Week: Sauna Village Sauna Day

Traditional Jämsä Sauna Day in Saunakylä During Sauna Region Week, we celebrate the Finnish sauna tradition.

Saunakylä is a unique smoke sauna village in Juokslahti, Jämsä, with over 20 traditional Finnish smoke saunas from the 18th to the 1940s. 10-14 of these saunas are heated for public use every Saturday from mid-May to the end of September. The saunas have been carefully restored and come from different parts of Finland. They are actively used and not just display pieces. This keeps both the historical buildings and the genuine Finnish sauna traditions alive, offering visitors an authentic, living cultural experience.
