The Pälämäki local history museum is open in July, 1.-30.7. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays from 12-17. The Pälämäki local history museum tells a fascinating story of the cottager-dominant settlement of Jämsä in the 18th and 19th centuries. Many separate artefact and grave finds have been discovered in the area, which have been significant findings for research on the settlement history of Jämsä. The museum buildings at Pälämäki bring history to life by presenting the life of a relatively prosperous Jämsä cottager household in the late 19th century. Some of the buildings date from the 18th century, but there are also artefacts from later periods. All the buildings have been moved to Pälämäki by the early 1960s from various parts of Jämsä. The Pälämäki local history museum is located right next to the centre of Jämsä and Himos, in the grounds of the folk high school. Museums record and preserve valuable and diverse cultural heritage. Admission to the museum is free. Welcome to enjoy the atmosphere of a bygone era in the beautiful Jämsä landscape!
