The City of Jyväskylä, the Jyväskylä Evangelical Lutheran Parish and the Jyväskylä Garrison are organizing public events with free admission to celebrate the Finnish Independence Day.
The events are open for public. Free entry.
At 10, INDEPENDENCE DAY'S WORSHIP, Taulumäki Church, Lohikoskentie 2.
At 11:30, THE MEMORIAL WREATH LAYING OCASSION, Old cemetery, Puistokatu.
At 13, INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION, Jyväskylän Paviljonki, Lutakonaukio 12.
Main speech by Dean, Head of Corporate Environmental Management Hanna-Leena Pesonen, Jyväskylä University School of Business and Economics.
Welcoming address by Head of the Garrison Henrik Elo, Jyväskylä Garrison.
The programme includes performances by the Air Force Band, Jyväskylä with soloist Jenna Bågeberg, Jyväskylä Gymnastics competitive group of 10-11 year olds.
Coffee is served at 12. Dresscode: honorable medals.

At 18, DEPARTURE OF THE INDEPENDENCE DAY TORCH PROCESSION from University Main Building to Old Cemetery. . In the cemetery, a traditional memorial wreath is placed on the soldiers graves. The occasion is organized by the freshmen of the Department of Teacher Education from the University of Jyväskylä.
At 18-20, THE STAIRS OF THE HARJU RIDGE ARE ILLUMINATED. Lighting is organized by Jyväskylän Partiolaiset ry.
Following the tradition, the residents of Jyväskylä are asked to light their windows for instance by two candles on 6th of December from 18 to 20.
